Tragedy on Lincoln Highway: Early-Morning Frankfort Crash Leaves One Dead and Another Seriously Injured

FRANKFORT, IL — A devastating early-morning collision on Lincoln Highway has left one person dead and another seriously injured, following a violent two-vehicle crash that occurred in the early hours of the morning.

According to the Frankfort Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 3:18 a.m. after receiving reports of a serious collision in the 8400 block of Lincoln Highway (U.S. Route 30).

When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they discovered both vehicles in the eastbound lanes of the highway. The vehicles had sustained significant damage in the collision, and one of them caught fire.

Police reported that the two vehicles each had only one occupant. The drivers were identified as a 54-year-old resident of Lockport and a 20-year-old resident of Joliet.

Both drivers suffered serious injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for emergency medical treatment. Despite efforts to save their life, the 20-year-old Joliet resident was later pronounced deceased.

The crash has left a community facing another painful reminder of how quickly an ordinary journey can turn into tragedy.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. The Lincoln-Way Area Crash Team has been activated to assist authorities with the investigation and to help determine the events that led to the fatal crash.
