Driver Says He Didn’t See Pedestrian Before Deadly Collision

The Augusta, Georgia community is mourning the tragic loss of Petrick Brown, 52, who was killed in a heartbreaking pedestrian crash early Wednesday morning on Peach Orchard Road.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched shortly after 5:00 a.m. to 3130 Peach Orchard Road, behind Chick-fil-A, after receiving a report of an injured person. When authorities arrived, they discovered Brown had been struck by a vehicle in the parking lot.

Investigators said the initial findings indicate Brown was walking east through the area, which was described as dimly lit, and was wearing dark clothing at the time. The vehicle involved was reportedly traveling north through the parking lot in a designated, marked travel lane. The driver told deputies he did not see Brown and stated that Brown walked in front of the vehicle moments before the collision.

Emergency crews responded quickly and Brown was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Despite life-saving efforts, he was later pronounced deceased.

News of Brown’s death has left family, friends, and those who knew him devastated. Loved ones are now faced with an unexpected and painful loss, remembering a life taken too soon and the lasting impact he leaves behind.
