Picayune Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead Wednesday afternoon at a residence on South Blanks Avenue.
According to a statement from the Picayune Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 1:20 p.m. on May 13, 2026, to 301 South Blanks Avenue after receiving a report of a body discovered at the home. When officers arrived on scene, they located a deceased male inside the residence.
The victim was later identified as Eddie Lawrence Jenkins.
Authorities confirmed the case remains an active and ongoing investigation and is currently being treated as a homicide. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence, interview potential witnesses, and work to determine the circumstances that led to Jenkins’ death. Police have not released additional details regarding the events leading up to the discovery, and no suspect information has been made public at this time.

The Picayune Police Department extended its condolences to the victim’s loved ones as the community mourns the loss.
